Honestly, I was worried about fitting this Wrangler JL Front Steel Bumper with the kids running around, but it worked out. It’s cute, although the installation video made it look easier than it was. Good for the school runs.
OldIron –
With a little Dremel work, this Wrangler JL Front Steel Bumper fits a ’98 TJ perfectly even though it says it’s for newer models. Nice upgrade for older rigs.
Realist –
Better than the last aftermarket Wrangler JL Front Steel Bumper I bought, but still feels a bit light. We’ll see how long it lasts. Time will tell.
Budget_Steel –
Compared 5 steel bumpers under $400. This offered best thickness-to-price ratio. Installation instructions missing but figured out. Fog light wiring extensions needed. Good value for basic steel protection.
Trail_Proven –
Used on black trails for 8 months. Several direct rock strikes – only surface scratches. The 3-piece design: center section bent on hard impact but replaceable. Would prefer thicker steel but good for price. Mounting points held strong.
Parking_Lot_Armor –
Urban parking garage daily. Survived 4 minor bumps without damage. Added front camera to see bumper corners. Parking sensors still work through steel. Peace of mind in tight city spaces.
Family_Protector –
With 3 kids, wanted extra front protection. Survived deer strike at 40mph – minimal damage. Added front-facing camera to offset reduced visibility. Installation bolts included were grade 5 – upgraded to grade 8. Peace of mind worth the cost.
Salt_Belt_Survivor –
Massachusetts winter with heavy salt. Bumper shows rust at weld points after one season. Steel itself solid, just surface rust. Annual touch-up painting needed. Still protecting well despite corrosion.
Winch_Ready –
Bought specifically for winch mounting. Steel is thick enough for 10k winch. Had to drill two additional holes for my mounting pattern. Approach angle improved noticeably. Factory fog lights transferred perfectly. Good foundation for recovery setup.
City_Protection –
Daily driver in Chicago. Survived 3 parking lot bumps without damage. Added 85lbs to front – MPG dropped 0.8. Installation took 3 hours with floor jack. Powder coat chipped where license plate mounts. Solid protection for city hazards.
Weight_Concern –
Added 92lbs to front axle. Noticeable steering feel change. Had to adjust headlights down. MPG impact about 0.9 on highway. Strong protection but consider payload if already heavy.
LED_Upgrade –
Bought specifically for light mounting. Steel thickness perfect for drilling new holes. Powder coat prevented rust where drilled. Fog light mounts perfectly spaced for 6″ LEDs. Great foundation for lighting upgrades.
Budget_Build –
Compared to $800+ aftermarket bumpers, this OEM-style at $350 is great. Steel thickness is adequate for my needs. Powder coat is thin – prep and repaint recommended. Fog light wiring extension needed. Good value for light off-road use.
Aesthetic_Builder –
Transformed my Sport S into Rubicon look. Paint match was 95% perfect (slightly glossier). Fog light brackets needed slight bending. The 3-piece design made install manageable alone. Gets compliments weekly. Minor rust spots after 6 months salty roads.
Deer_Country –
Wisconsin back roads with frequent deer. This bumper saved my Jeep from $4,000 damage. Took hit at 45mph – minimal damage to bumper, none to Jeep. Repainted for $150. Essential for rural driving.
ReliabilitySeeker –
Jeep engineering is weird coming from a Toyota, but this Wrangler JL Front Steel Bumper fixes the issue. Makes it feel more solid.

Is this the steel group bumper? Needs to take a winch hit. Thanks.
